About Us

Sakinah began not as a business, but as a personal act of devotion — an attempt to preserve and share the beauty of sacred moments.

It started with the dhikr. I began attending local gatherings led by our beloved shuyūkh — nights filled with remembrance, salawat, poetry, and deep stillness. These were not events for performance, but spaces of healing, presence, and light. I felt something special in them — something I didn’t want to forget. So I began recording them. At first just audio, then video. And eventually, I started editing them and adding subtitles, so that more people could follow, understand, and feel part of what was happening — even if they were far away, or unfamiliar with the language.

Sharing those recordings online through my Instagram account, @seekerofsakinah, became an extension of that work. It was never about virality or numbers — just about creating a small doorway for others to connect to the light of dhikr, qasā’id, and salawat in their daily lives.

But as I spent more time in those spaces of remembrance, I noticed something else: the quiet dignity of how our elders and teachers dressed. The shawls, in particular — simple, soft, flowing — seemed to carry a kind of spiritual presence. They weren’t flashy or overly styled. Just practical, beautiful, and rooted in tradition. Something about them felt deeply in line with the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ — who was known to wear a ridāʾ, or outer wrap, in the simplest of fabrics.

That’s when Sakinah began to take shape — as a natural extension of this intention to preserve and carry beauty forward. Not just in sound and word, but now in texture and form. I began sourcing handwoven Yemeni shawls, chosen not just for their patterns, but for the feeling they hold — the way they drape the body, the way they quiet the mind. Later, I added heavier, embroidered shawls inspired by Kashmiri traditions — thick and warm, woven with subtle floral motifs that echo a slower, more intentional way of being.

Each shawl in this collection is meant to support a moment: before Fajr, after prayer, at dhikr gatherings, in reflection, or as a gift. This isn’t fast fashion. It’s clothing that remembers — that holds presence, purpose, and prayer in its threads.

We are a small, independent brand, and everything here is done with care: from the sourcing, to the photography, to the words on the page. I still run @seekerofsakinah with the same intention — sharing dhikr, salawat, qasida, and now, these shawls — all from the same place: a love of the sacred, and a longing for sakinah.

If you’ve come here looking for something gentle, rooted, and meaningful — you’re in the right place. May these offerings accompany you in prayer, in remembrance, and in rest. And may Allah grant all of us hearts full of stillness, longing, and light.

Thank you for being here. Jazakum Allahu khayran.

With love, in remembrance —
Sakinah
